The division of Korea between North and South Korea was the result of the Allied victory in World War II in 1945, ending the Empire of Japan's 35-year rule over Korea. The United States and the Soviet Union occupied the country, with the boundary between their zones of control along the 38th parallel.

With the onset of the Cold War, negotiations between the United States and the Soviet Union failed to lead to an independent, unified Korea. In 1948, UN-supervised elections were held in the US-occupied south only. This led to the establishment of the Republic of Korea in South Korea, which was promptly followed by the establishment of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea in North Korea. The United States supported the South, the Soviet Union supported the North, and each government claimed sovereignty over the whole Korean peninsula.

I can't believe Imy husband and I went to south never had racist problem going to this school but now all I hear is that this school has become such an ugly place for people with color its really sad that students have to wake up every morning thinking if some is going to make fun of them because of their color or thinking if they're save I'm very disappointed .

One day a couple of kids came up to me and made fun of my man boobies so i cried in the bathroom besides hat i love lakeville north

Visited LSHS for a volleyball tournament. The facilities are first rate. The hosts were very hospitable.

They say High School is the worst time of your life. I can say that my experience at Lakeville South was not "the worst". There are good teachers, and there are not so good teachers. But that doesn't matter, it's what you get out of the experience. For me, I really enjoyed learning here. Having the most disruptive class of Lakeville history(up until graduation), the teachers handled us pretty well. There were also a lot more good teachers than bad, but everyone's opinion on this may be different. As far as school spirit, Lakeville South is top notch! 9/10 overall

The subsequent Korean War, which lasted from 1950 to 1953, ended with a stalemate and has left the two Koreas separated by the Korean Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) up to the present day.
